The 10678 differential pressure gauge kit fits both the VF-61 and VF-61E. The differential pressure gauge indicates the difference in pressure going into the filter element, and coming out of the element. Essentially, it allows you to visually see how “clogged up” the element is. It allows users to quickly and easily monitor the element’s status, and whether it needs to be replaced. If you see the gauge need swing wildly in either direction, discontinue fueling immediately and inspect the element. Wild swings can indicate a rupture or collapse of the filter element.
Kit includes both the differential pressure gauge, a selection of brass compression fittings, and enough copper tube to mount the gauge. Installation is simple: there are two ports on the bottom of the gauge, marked “hi” and “lo.” There are two brass plugs on top of the VF-61. In the center between them, you’ll see “DP” cast into the housing. Each brass plug will have a “H” or “L” near it. Plumb the “H” on the filter head to the “HI” on the gauge, and the “L” on the filter head to the “LO” on the gauge.
The gauge is magnetic, so keep it at least 8” from any iron, steel, or other ferrous materials.
